4th Down~

It’s overcast and foggy. Visibility is low.
Hunched over and palms sweaty, your grip feels as though it’s slipping…so you grasp a little harder.
Voices from the crowd are drowning your concentration,
& it’s all you can do to catch your breath.

You’re 28,
& if the coach keeps you in,
you have a lifetime to go.
Routes are running through your head.
& the options seem risky.
The next play could be a career changing move.
The pressure is high.
Your team and family are counting on you.

Pain pierces your body from the last hit
you pretended to shake off.

The clock is ticking…

You could punt,
hoping for a turnover on the return…

You could pass it off,
& attempt to run it in…

but you’re thinking deep and long,
& no penalties which could cost you the play,
or even the game.

It’s time to make the call.

The game is in your hands.

What will it be?

Chin up,
you look to the left,
to the right.
Planting your back foot,
and gaining momentum,
Confidently you release your next play into action.

It’s LAUNCHED,
the crowd is silenced…

there’s a late hit,
but the pass was caught!!!

You’re shaken,
but quickly rise to your feet.

Smiling, you realize…
it wasn’t just calling the right play,
it was picking the right team that won you the game.

Thank you for picking me John!
I love you & can’t wait to be your wife!

47 DAYS TO GO!!!

Love,
Cassie
